The weekend before last my wife and I took a camping trip to Stanley, Idaho. It was my first time visiting the Stanley area, and it was a visually pleasing trip. I enjoyed seeing the mountains as we got close, and most of the drive up there from Boise was scenic. Unfortunately, our dog did not seem to enjoy all the winding roads and had a fit most of the way, causing us to have to stop off on the side of the road several times so he could get out of the car.
I’m not a huge camper, and initially wasn’t too thrilled to go camping, but overall it was an enjoyable trip. One thing I dropped the ball on big time was not getting a sleeping bag. I figured it would be chilly, but I was not prepared at all for how cold it got at night. We forgot to bring the rain flap for the tent which didn’t help matters, but it probably would’ve been frigid regardless. I brought a fleece blanket and another thin blanket and woke up in the middle of the night shivering and unable to sleep. The next day I bought a sleeping bag in Stanley which made that night more pleasant, but the initial night there was downright miserable.
It was nice to get out of town for a bit, even if I did start to have electricity withdrawal rather quickly. I’d definitely visit again.
